The most expensive T-shirt in the world
Are you comfortable?
I've been in the whirlwind of fashion for quite a few years now. In the meantime, I no longer blink at a zero more or less. I started cautiously with a tote bag from Marc Jacobs, moved with a sweeping motion to Miu Miu, and I managed (well, I suddenly forgot the credit card code,
I was so restless about it) to actually acquire a couple of Chanels.
Even when I heard that the opening shirt from Dior under the direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri cost 500 dollars, I understood that. I honestly found it a bit ridiculous, because we were talking about a cotton T-shirt, with short sleeves no less, but still. It was indeed the now-iconic shirt that marked Maria Grazia Chiuri's second show for Dior. I didn't buy it, but I understood: fair enough.
But now. But now. Balenciaga has come up with a new PR stunt after their monstrous dad sneaker (which also cost a messy 700 euros and was immediately sold out). Unfortunately, I can't call it anything else. A shirt. For 1000 (say: one thousand) euros. Okay, fine, it's a T-shirt disguised as a blouse. So it's a bit more than a shirt. I can't find it beautiful. Remarkable, yes. At moments like these, I regret that my beloved's Jordanese grandfather is no longer alive. I hear his words in my mind. Harinkje on the left, a puzzled look at me: “Have they completely lost their minds.”
