The most romantic restaurants in Amsterdam
Our date nights have become sacred: once every two weeks, Jon and I try to go out for a romantic evening a deux. No more spaghetti stains up to your neck or having to share snacks with an impatient Otis who finds my plate WAY tastier than his own. We both dress up in our finest clothes and choose a nice spot where you can enjoy a lovely meal in a pleasant setting. And preferably no loud music or intense acoustics, so you can finally have a real conversation. After fifteen minutes, all conversations inevitably turn back to the sweetest little man on earth, but oh well… Those are the most loving conversations you can have on a romantic date! If you are looking for such a nice location for a first date, to celebrate something together, or just like us to get out of the parents' setting: these are my favorite romantic spots in Amsterdam.
1. Taiko: start the evening with a glass of bubbles in the beautiful lobby of the Conservatorium Hotel and then walk through to restaurant Taiko. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in an Eastern style and not too big: just the perfect setting for a romantic evening! The menu truly exceeds all your culinary expectations and with the wine pairing, this is the recipe for a perfect date night.
2. Moon: at the top of the A’dam Tower, you will find the revolving restaurant Moon. No worries, you rotate very gently, allowing you to enjoy the 360-degree view in peace. All tables feel very private, as you can hardly see the others due to the circular shape of the restaurant. The food is delicious and the view is stunning: if that doesn’t provoke a first kiss during the first date…
3. Toscanini: my favorite for years! The best Italian in Amsterdam, always top quality and there’s a very nice atmosphere. If we have something special to celebrate, we reserve a spot here. And let’s be honest: which cuisine brings out the most romantic side in everyone?!
4. White Room: if you are looking for something exclusive, then this is the place to be. Put on your finest suit, have a cocktail beforehand at The Tailor, and then sit down at the Michelin-starred top restaurant in the Krasnapolsky. The interior is so beautiful that you have plenty to look at when there’s a moment of silence. The dishes are served like little works of art and the staff does everything to give you the perfect evening.
