Things people often regret at the end of their lives
Life is too short to have regrets, right? Just ask an eighty-year-old. 9 points where we have the most regrets when we plop down old and worn out in our reading chair. And, act on it, okay, while you still can. #YOLO!
1. That you didn't explore the world when you were still able to
Look, I'm not saying you can't go out with kids (our Carolien is a pro at that, for example), but I do say that you should at least do it when you're young. There's a reason it's a cliché: procrastination leads to cancellation. Now is your time to shine, to make memories. Scratch that passport!
2. That you stayed in a bad relationship for too long
You can feel when something is bad for you. Even if it's painful, sometimes choosing yourself is the best choice ever. Especially if he/she doesn't treat you well.
3. That you were. So. Insecure. All. The. Time.
Especially in your twenties. Nothing was good enough. While you look back on that period with a smile in your eighties. Insecurity holds back your life; never let fear stop you from doing something that actually seems fun.
4. That you held onto that meh job for so long
Better safe than sorry? No man, better sorry! Never play it safe when it comes to job satisfaction. If you're not enjoying it, move on. You'll end up better off anyway.
5. That you worried too much about what others think of you
Reminder: others don't think that much about you. Others are probably thinking about themselves. You should do that a bit more often too.
6. That you didn't make it clear enough to your loved ones how much you love them
Can you still do it now? Then do it.
7. That you didn't stand up for yourself
Don’t let the bastards get you down. Grab them. It feels good.
8. That you were a workhorse and therefore spent little time with loved ones
Remember: true wealth is finding a balance between material wealth and personal wealth. Someone who works themselves to death at the expense of family will never experience optimal wealth.
9. That you took too few risks in life
You drive from A to B and realize at your destination that you can't remember large parts of the drive. That, friends, is called autopilot. And that idiot grabs you not only during a drive but everywhere: at home and at work. Every single day. Stop that autopilot. Climb out of your comfort zone. Dare to fall. Live. Picking yourself up is always better than regretting something you didn't do.
