With your big belly on babymoon
The babymoon is happening guys. It's a thing. You don't participate if you haven't just laid on a pristine white beach with your hubby before you baby pop out with a big horn. Open Instagram and you see the round-bellied brigade on a tropical island or posing in Times Square. A newlywed couple goes on honeymoon so you would actually think that you babymoon when the little sprout finally arrives. WRONG. Babymooning is actually done before the little one is born. The last trip just the two of you. Of course, such a trip is a bit of a thing because where are you going, how and what do you need to consider? That's a whole lot... Think about travel time, climate, diseases, and so on. I'm not an expert and I'm not speaking from experience, but I did do some research for you. Do you want to sneak away before diving into the world of dirty diapers, broken nights, and leaking breasts? Then these are the things you need to keep in mind... Happy babymoon.
Moment
When is the best time to go? It is often said that it is ideal to travel in the second trimester of pregnancy. Usually, the worst ailments are then a thing of the past and your belly isn't so big that you have trouble with it. The most important thing is to keep in mind that you are not allowed to fly after your 36th week.
Destination
Do you choose a destination where you won't go quickly with a child or is it mainly important that your destination is luxurious and relaxing? What you should definitely pay attention to is that the destination you choose is safe for pregnant women. Not every vaccination is suitable for pregnant women and there are destinations where you risk getting infected with certain viruses.
When you travel later in your pregnancy, you will notice that you get out of breath more quickly. A super warm destination combined with an active trip may not be ideal. Then you might as well lie on a sunbed by a pool.
Also think about travel time: if you go by car, you can plan your own time and take enough breaks; in an airplane, you can't move around as much.
Zon
During your pregnancy, it is wise not to expose your skin too much to bright sunlight. Not only is the baby put at risk by possible dehydration or sunburn, but your pigmentation can also get confused and cause huge pigmentation spots, even if you apply sunscreen well.
The trip
You also need to consider the travel duration. During your pregnancy, the risk of thrombosis is significantly higher. So a long flight may not be very convenient. If you travel by car, you can still stop during your trip to take a walk or just stretch your legs, but during a long flight, this becomes a different story.
Rest
In any case, your pregnancy is all about rest, but this is definitely the key during your babymoon! So plop down on that bed and make sure to get enough hours of sleep. Book that massage and let yourself be pampered with breakfast in bed.
Insurance
Always make sure you have good travel insurance. You never know. Especially if you sneak away at the end of your pregnancy....
