Uh oh: creators of Stranger Things are accused of plagiarism
If you have success, accusations of plagiarism will soon fly around you. This also happened to the creators of the series that almost everyone was talking about last year: Stranger Things. What happened? Filmmaker Charlie Kessler has dragged brothers Matt and Ross Duffer to court for stealing his idea.
A little explanation. Charlie made the film ‘Montauk’ in 2011. Three years later, he came into contact with the brothers and pitched the idea that, according to him, closely resembles the series now called Stranger Things. Notable detail: the working title of Stranger Things was also Montauk. And in the filmmaker's short film, there is also a missing boy and a military base where experiments are conducted on children.
Yesterday, Kessler filed all court papers for a case. You understand: this story is going to have a sequel. A story that screams for a goddamn spectacular Harvey Specter-ending. We will keep you updated.
