Why Amal, Naomi, and Doutzen are all in The Hague now
For those living in The Hague: the chances are high that it will be busy in your little town this week. A whole army of celebrities is currently sitting with their butts in private jets, to attend the annual ‘One Young World’, which is taking place in the Netherlands for the first time this year. The what? One Young World, yes. At the event, 1800 young people from all over the world come together to discuss various solutions to problems in the world. (Think of global themes like poverty, health, and climate change.)
Máxima opens the event on Wednesday evening and Naomi Campbell, Amal Clooney, Doutzen Kroes, and Akon will speak at the youth summit. By the way, it seems to be an extremely exclusive affair, with tickets costing 1000 euros, good lordy. Interesting detail: Shell has selected 10 smart Dutch minds from the Netherlands to share their ideas with the world. And I read through it, and there are some pretty nice initiatives among them. For example: 28-year-old Rajae from Amsterdam, who has the ambition to create playgrounds where both children with and without physical disabilities can play together. Because she could never play well with her little brother (who is in a wheelchair) when she was younger. I think that's beautiful. And there are nine other stories like that. And I think we can be quite proud that an event like this is taking place in the Netherlands. So, grab your camera and go sleep in the luxury hotels in The Hague. The chance that you spot the rich and famous is very, very present from Wednesday to Friday.
