Why don't men know the word ‘baargoud’?

Look, being pregnant is quite fun. Sometimes it can be quite heavy. But luckily you have your man to support you a bit.

And by a bit, we secretly mean birthing gold. Well, those smoothies every morning are sweet and that foot massage in the evening is worth something too, but when the moment comes that you actually have to give birth naturally or via the belly, it does have a bit less effect. And very few men understand that.

In fact, many men don't even know this word. And every woman I speak to does. What is going wrong here? Let's clarify: birthing gold you get from your man when you have just given birth. A nice piece of jewelry. A ring engraved with your child's name. A necklace with all your initials on it. Doesn't have to be expensive, but it can be. Doesn't have to be Cartier, but it can be. A Chanel bag is also good. You’ve earned that after nine months of struggling and puffing with the cherry on top being that contraction wave. A little materialistic comfort is something you’ve earned, right?

Every woman agrees with this, every man who has to pay... Not so. So I want to create some clarity from now on, once and for all. Because men, believe us, it really isn't that easy to carry and bring babies into the world. It’s the most beautiful thing there is, honestly, but it’s also tough. Something you will never know and maybe that’s for the best. Because it secretly involves a lot of blood, stomach pain, back pain, nausea, tearing, not being able to pee, not being able to poop, crying, drooling, pimples, gaining kilos, insomnia, painful breasts, and milk leaking from your nipples while you’re in a meeting at work. Not to mention that career that has to be put on the back burner. And about that red wine that you can't drink for a year. You do it all with love, but it’s quite a lot.

Isn't it all manageable then, men, when you hear all this? That one gold bracelet... Should be possible. See the romance in it. A gift she will never forget. To celebrate the new life.

Are you reading along, darling?
