Why Godiva is the chocolate of fashion girls

Godiva is to chocolate what Chanel is to fashion. Only the best of the best is used, and there is a couture line: available worldwide since 1926 in one of the many boutiques. But since last year, Godiva also has a so-called prêt-à-porter collection; easily available at Albert Heijn. Hooray.

Just like the real fashion brands, Godiva honors its history in symbolism in its so-called Masterpieces collection. Just as we see the camellia or the coins (things that had great significance for Gabrielle Chanel) at Chanel, we see the heart, the oyster, and the lion at Godiva. The heart refers to Godiva's first boutique in Brussels, the heart of Belgium. The lion reminds the house of the moment it received the royal designation from the Belgian court. The oyster, finally, is an ode to the sea with which the founders, the Draps family, have such a special relationship.

Like the classic fashion houses, Godiva breathes quality. Every day, the master chocolatiers taste and evaluate. The taste, the smell, and even the sound the chocolate makes when you take a bite; everything must be perfect.

That Godiva is a sponsor of Amsterdam Fashion Week can only be described as a match made in heaven. Just like the chocolate itself and yours truly. Bring on those Masterpieces.
