Why you can just eat that donut

The solution for when you're on a diet but still want to enjoy that donut: drink one less cocktail tonight. I know: a lot less fun, but one cocktail can sometimes contain as many calories and sugars as a donut. Our friends at FavorFlav explain how it works.

10 grams of sugar

An average donut contains ten grams of sugar. A simple Aperol Spritz already has nineteen grams. A Pimm’s, a cocktail made with spicy Pimm’s liqueur and ginger ale or lemonade, contains over 25 grams of sugar. That’s three-quarters of your daily sugar requirement.

A pina colada contains thirteen grams and a Pornstar Martini sixteen grams. Other cocktails with more than ten grams of sugar include the strawberry daiquiri (seventeen grams) and the Sex on the Beach (seventeen grams).

The Skinny Bitch cocktail

Would you prefer less sugar in your cocktail because you always watch your calories? Then go for the Cosmopolitan with eight grams of sugar, a Mojito with four grams of sugar, or a Gin Fizz with five grams of sugar. The Margarita has the lowest sugar content: it contains only 0.3 grams.
