Why you want to watch Famke Louise's documentary tonight

Nothing to do after work? Good. Then I suggest you park your ass on the couch and sit down for a bit. Both the fans and the haters, because this is something you want to see. After watching the four-part documentary series Famke Louise, you can't help but feel admiration for her and at the same time, uh, pity.

Never before has such a raw portrait of the 19-year-old artist been sketched that sometimes really makes you feel pain in your stomach. We see Famke becoming exhausted. Breaking up with her management. Getting whole trays of beer thrown over her, being called a ‘cancer whore’ and meanwhile developing stage fright. Clamming up and with dozens of helpers getting back up and continuing. Never taking a day off. Being wished dead online every day. The difficult position of a female artist has never been so visible in the Netherlands.

Still, I find it nice to see that the opinion of many has changed after her participation in Expeditie Robinson. She came across quite dry (she just talks like that), but also incredibly sweet and positive. And yes, Fam, I know that I was a bit skeptical at first about your music video (albeit with a wink), but I still want to say that I have respect for you. Your career launched like a rocket. And where some thought you would be a one-hit wonder, we are already 11 hits further.

Dear Fam, let those haters cry, with a smile on your selfie. And for everyone, I want to say: check out the documentary tonight if you really want to understand it. It's now available on Videoland.
