9x what is nice about being home again

May-britt cuddling with kids in her garden shed

I could also make at least as long a list of what is not nice about coming home (the weather, the mountain of laundry that makes me feel suicidal, the stack of newspapers that gives me paper shame), but still, there is nothing better than coming home. My list of favorites.

1. Monti

Nothing is more delightful than picking up your dog again. Seeing her pee with joy and craziness not knowing what to do to show her happiness at seeing you.

2. A bath

I understand that a shower is more economical than a bath, but I always cram three kids in at once, so I dare to say that a bath is better for people and the environment. My daughters hate the shower, so I let it simmer and soak for an hour, and now I sniff their fresh little hair all day.

3. The newspapers

Also annoying because guys, where do I start, but also wonderful to browse through the pile and pull out my favorite sections and supplements.

4. My own washing machine

I have a tic and that is that even clean laundry that comes out of the suitcase needs to be washed because it smells musty and damp. But how happy I am with my 20-minute program on my Miele and my lovely Robijn products (in self-designed Amayzine bottles). I can really enjoy that. Especially when it's done.

5. Your girlfriends

Immediately call and catch up. You can do that on vacation too, but you tend to do it more at home.

6. Your perfect coffee

I come from the land of coffee, but my own little Nespresso with exactly the amount of milk and foam I want... Unmatched.

7. My sambal

A point for improvement for Italy: sambal is hard to find. Maybe I didn't search well enough and olio piccante fits better with the cuisine, but still.

8. My clothes

Just the full monty. All the bags I want, the shoes I want, the scarves I want to wrap myself in...

9. The rain

Sorry, but I enjoy it. Fire on, blanket over the legs. You can take the girl out of the Netherlands, but apparently not the Netherlands out of the girl. And that sun, it will come by itself...
