5 bizarrely beautiful water villas

water villas

I'm not really a bucket list kind of person. Just give me a piece of brie de meaux, a glass of AIX rosé, and a little hat and you won't hear from me. But when I see those long-legged water houses above the waters of Bora Bora or Indonesia, I just want to get married right away. Because of the honeymoon that follows, you understand? My favorite site Condé Nast Traveller selected the nine most beautiful ones and I present you my five favorites. For the full monty, go to my overseas friends.

1. Bawah Reserve, Indonesia

Six islands, thirteen pristine white beaches, dining in ‘tree tops’, kayaking from one island to another or into the jungle of Indonesia. I won't say more…

2. Song Saa Private Islands, Cambodia

Nine bungalows floating above the water, your own private pool from where you can gaze at the Gulf of Thailand. This. You. Want.

3. Brando Suites, Bora Bora

When it comes to dream locations, this is the nec plus ultra. I could say a lot about it, but let the images speak for themselves. It’s of course quite awkward to talk about money, but to temper your enthusiasm a bit, I’ll whisper to you that this two-person suite costs a messy 1900 euros per night. So, save up a bit. But hey, you also don’t want to leave your room for a second.

4. Hilton Moorea Lagoon & Spa, French Polynesia

So your little house hangs above a turquoise lagoon, you have three restaurants, a gym, and a bar. It’s twenty minutes from the airport and there’s a ferry to Tahiti. There’s no wifi in your suite (but there is in the bar), but I secretly find that a huge plus.

5. Four Seasons Resort, Bora Bora

Say Four Seasons and I’m already rolling out the ladder to grab my suitcase from the attic. Especially if I get that little house with the infinity pool that seems to flow directly into the ocean. And where you can dive into the sea from your terrace. By ‘amazing’, this is still a hundred meters straight ahead. My credit card was already gently twitching in my wallet because it heard something about 1800 euros per night. So.

But you know what’s nice? Dreaming is free. And looking at photos is too.
