kiki laughing on the beach abroad

Sometimes you wake up in places where you think: sigh... Somebody, pinch me. Is this life? What if I told you that there are a few tropical places on Earth where the beach is not white, yellow, brown, or black, but no: pink? A unique natural phenomenon that will make your inner Paris Hilton spontaneously start flipping.

I've been staring at the photos below for so long that I now, uh, have opened three flight ticket websites... Are we going? Vamos!

balos bay crete, pink beach, blue sea, vacation

1. Balos Bay, Crete

Helloooo, pink beach close to home! And to think that I've been to Crete twice and still missed this beach. Totally embarrassing now that I read that Prince Charles and Lady Di went there for their honeymoon. You understand: we need to go to Crete. And we need to go now.

komodo flores island indonesia pink beach blue sea

2. Komodo Island, Indonesia

Admittedly: when you see the beach from a distance, it doesn't look pink at all, but when the sun shines in a certain way, it gets a beautiful pink glow from the small pink pieces of coral. Snorkeling fan? Woah, then this is your place. Also cool to combine with a visit to Lombok.

crane beach, pink sand, blue sea, blue sky

3. Crane Beach, Barbados

Yep, at moments like this I seriously start to wonder why Rihanna ever emigrated at all. If I were her, I would lie on the pink beaches at Crane Beach all day.

great santa cruz island pink beach, green, blue sky

4. Great Santa Cruz Island, Philippines

Expedition Robinson goes Barbie girl. Santa Cruz Island in the Philippines is a 15-minute boat ride from the city. You won't find hotels, shops, or hardly any signs of life, but hey, they do have a pink beach. I say: rent a boat, make your own sandwiches, and enjoy the view.

horseshoe beach, rocks, pink sand, blue sea shore

5. Horseshoe Bay Beach, Bermuda

On the south coast of Bermuda, you will find this tropical gem. The pink color of the sand here comes from Bermuda being full of coral reefs with tiny sea organisms (called red foraminifera) that give it this hue. Come on, this is just not fair anymore! When are we going?
