5x this says a resting bitch face about your personality

Lilian in her younger years on the beach with a little hat and a bag of popcorn

How often I have had to hear: ‘don't look so angry’ during a night out is countless. And angry? At that moment, I am anything but. In fact, I am having a great time. By now, I respond as sarcastically as possible to these kinds of comments, which I always end with a laugh. Because hey: I am indeed friendly, even if I don't always look like it. Oh well, I have gotten used to it by now, and it even seems that my parents have received that question when I once again walked around like a grump with my mother or got a gigantic bag of popcorn on the beach from my father. They could see that their daughter was laughing inside and enjoying herself to the fullest at those moments. Well, that damn resting bitch face, I was born with it, and aside from those few frowns and ‘are you angry?’ questions, that grumpy look of ours doesn't seem to mean only downsides. Just check this out. I say: bitches for the win.

Better at communicating

According to researcher and speaker on interpersonal communication John Lund, people with a resting bitch face are better at communicating. Because they are more aware of their unpleasant expression, they focus more on how they come across. They also need better communication skills due to their non-smiling face, and they learn those skills faster and better than others.

More sensitive

They are more aware of the feelings of the people around them.

More self-aware

If you have a resting bitch face, you develop a strong degree of self-awareness to come across well. If it becomes a habit to pay attention to your facial expression and your way of communicating, you will get better at it than those for whom it comes naturally. Thanks for your bad pickup lines, um, honesty, right, guys.

You make fewer mistakes

You are a real thinker (with, yes, free frowns), which means you will be just a little less likely to blurt something out that you might regret later.

More effective

People with a resting bitch face know better than anyone how annoying it is to be misjudged. Therefore, they will focus just that little bit more on what someone else is saying and will be less easily distracted by how someone comes across, making communication more effective.
