Aiaiaiai: millennials have more sex but fewer orgasms

To kick off that Thursday in a steaming way, we're going to talk about sex. First of all, I have some pretty pleasant news: we millennial women have more sex than the generation above us. I also have something more mediocre to share: we have fewer orgasms. Phew, that's a bit of a shame.

Last week, our English neighbors celebrated Sexual Happiness Day, and you can't help but wonder why we don't have something like that. In honor of this festivity, the toy company Lovehoney conducted a large survey among 2100 women aged 18 to 70 about how satisfied they are between the sheets. Now you've got our attention.

Millennials are having sex a lot and diligently, as revealed during the research. If you're between 18 and 25 years old, you have a chance of more than twice a week. The orgasms that follow are a bit meager, as only one in three women reaches climax. Then there are the women aged 45 and older, where the percentage is 63 percent, which we thought was quite a pleasant score. The lowest score is given by women between 31 and 35 years old, as only ten percent rate their sex life a ten.

Now for the reasons why millennials are getting it on so much. 1) Because it's fun. Look, that seems like a pretty legitimate reason to us, and 2) because it's good for your self-confidence. About 47 percent of women under 25 even get a boost from it, while it does little to nothing for women over 25. For women over 45, it has a deeper meaning, as it’s about strengthening the emotional connection.

Overall, you could assume that we end up with roughly the same number of orgasms, but just occasionally having a quickie without always achieving a hallelujah as a result. But: it only gets better.
