Bucharest is where you need to be

For everyone who wants to book an original city trip: Bucharest is where you need to be! I was invited for a trip, otherwise I would never have thought of it myself. My first impression was a mix between Berlin and Paris: a lot of beautiful architecture, small bistros where you can eat deliciously, and a lot of greenery in the city. Especially for you, I’m listing my favorite spots:

Hotel: The Mansion Boutique is located in the heart of the city and each room has its own theme. I had a beautiful ZEN room with Buddhas and the FRENCH room has a real French balcony!

Lunch: The Romanian cuisine is a nice mix of Greek and Turkish dishes, with lots of dips and delicious shared dining dishes! We were fans of restaurants Aubergine, Café Citta.

Dinner: Actually, everything we saw was nice! These places all have beautiful views and a delightful menu: Cismigiu, Biutiful by the lake, Maize.

Once back home, I had to make a bit of an effort to win back Otis’ heart… Everything is ‘papa’ all the time, which I of course eagerly take advantage of: as soon as Otis chants ’papa‘ at 5:30 AM in the morning, you know who has to get up. And I lovingly pass on those enormous toxic diapers, because well: I naturally listen obediently to my child and he calls ’papa‘ and not ’mama‘. Ah, such a papa phase is certainly not wrong from time to time.

I think it’s great to see that large companies are increasingly trying to operate more consciously, and especially in Amsterdam, you’re no longer part of the scene if you don’t contribute to ‘sustainability’. For example, almost a third of the concrete of the QO hotel is recycled and comes from the Shell tower in Amsterdam, they have a self-regulating eco-system, and they reuse water (for example, the shower water is used to flush the toilets). Oh yes, they also have a fantastic Rooftop restaurant ‘Juniper and Kin’ where you can eat excellently. They serve pure food straight from their own greenhouse or from local farmers, and each dish is cooked at 41 degrees Celsius, so the flavors come out best. Really a must-try if you’re planning a weekend in Amsterdam!

Now that I’m writing my last piece, I realize that this week has indeed become a very culinary blog. Now I also extremely love good food, so it’s true that my whole week consisted of discovering new restaurants. The last tip is a must on your wishlist for all egg lovers: Oeuf has opened its doors in Amsterdam. I am incredibly proud of Geza and the other owners for making this dream come true. The menu consists, you guessed it, of numerous delicious egg dishes. I’m already addicted to the omelet with truffle cheese, but I need to go back soon to taste all the other dishes because everything looks equally delicious!
