Catching up on the Oscars in 1 minute

lady gaga red carpet

We take you to the evening that Hollywood has been talking about for two months, because does ‘A Star Is Born’ win that Oscar or not? But first things first. The women rocked the most last night, because even though there was no female nominee in the Best Film or Directing category, never before have so many women gone home with an Oscar. There were 15 in total.

The big winner of the Oscars is: Bohemian Rhapsody. They took home four of the five statuettes for which they were nominated. Rami Malek was best actor (which in my humble opinion he was), the crew received a hat tip for Best Editing and they could also add Sound Editing to their award list. But, the best film was again not A Star Is Born, which everyone was kind of hoping for, and Lady Gaga did not win an Oscar for her acting performance this time either. A Star Is Born only received honors for Best Original Song, which Lady Gaga accepted. She of course thanked co-star Bradley Cooper. And Irina Shayk (you know, Bradley's other half) momentarily erased all gossip by giving Gaga the sweetest hug ever after the win. Even though the performance of her husband and Gaga was of the heads-close-together type.

The film Green Book won the prize of the evening and thus received the official label for Best Picture. Olivia Colman was named Best Actress and Roma did not lag behind with a ribbon for Best Cinematography. Even though it was a bit of a back-and-forth beforehand, the Academy postponed the introduction of a new Oscar for the time being, the audience award for the most popular film. This way, the larger blockbusters also get a chance, as they often miss out during Hollywood's image storm.

The music was grand, as besides Bradley and Gaga, Bette Midler also took the stage with a rendition from the latest Mary Poppins and Queen performed with singer Adam Lambert, where of course We Are The Champions was played. Only for the first time there was no presenter. Kevin Hart was supposed to be the host of the evening, but suddenly offensive tweets from his past surfaced, causing him to withdraw. This meant that the Oscars were presenter-less for the first time in thirty years.

Then we have of course some points in the Remarkable category. The dress of Melissa McCarthy, with a train to which a legion of rabbits were attached. Maya Rudolph, Tina Fey, and Amy Poehler who opened the evening and as far as we (and themselves) are concerned, could have presented the whole evening, they were that funny. And at the afterparty, Kendall Jenner was all legs, you want to see her right away.

Who wore what you will have to wait for. Your fashion editor Lil will be back with you in a ‘split’ (Ha Kendall) second with the dresses. But for now, you are good to go on the Oscar front this Monday.
