Everything you want to know about vegan beauty

Vegan beauty is super hot and happening, just like at Zalando beauty where you can find a lot of different natural and vegan cosmetics these days. And I don't know about you, but I want to learn a lot more about this whole vegan situation. So I did some serious research and all the do’s and don’ts surrounding this vegan skincare gathered for us. Because is it really that good for your skin and the environment? And are you immediately all the way green and organic or is that still a bit disappointing? I'm going to tell you.

Cruelty-free.

More and more brands are launching a vegan line. Not to be confused with a cruelty-free collection, this is actually something different. The latter is about testing the product and not about the ingredients in it. Combray is for example a vegan and cruelty-free oil, May wrote about that earlier this week.

Organic and green.

By using vegan products, we are not immediately organic and green. If you look at the production and packaging, they can still be less good for the environment. It's about the total package. More and more brands are aware of this and are using recycled materials.

Labels.

Are you also quickly influenced by big texts like ’with natural ingredients’? That doesn't mean the product is 1001% natural. So always check the back and the fine print if you really want to know. There are also several websites where you can quickly and easily find information about your product. If you have the logo ‘Vegan friendly’ (1001% vegan) or ‘The leaping bunny’ (cruelty-free) on your packaging, you know you're good.

Is it better for your skin?

Vegan products contain many plant-based vitamins and minerals to hydrate and repair your skin. You often feel healthier when you eat as naturally as possible, the same goes for your skin. Especially if you have sensitive skin, it's smart to apply as naturally as possible.

Know what you apply. Awareness is what it's all about these days. You don't want to fall behind anymore, so trying is what you want to do. To help you a bit, I've gathered the finest vegan products for you.
