For when you really want a unique perfume

When it comes to perfumes, the choice is vast. Yet there are evergreens that we all seem to reach for. Because they smell so good or because we were all enchanted by the campaign. Because your personality is unique, I can imagine that you don't like it when half of your friends have the same scent as you. You are not the same and therefore you want to smell different.

Otentic Perfumes tells a different story. The family behind Otentic has been in haute perfumery for eight generations, producing the finest fragrance ingredients. In the new Otentic boutique in Amstelveen, I met Jean-Denis Saisse, the ‘nose’ behind the brand, and I suspect perhaps the most productive creator of them all. He saw it as his task to create a perfume for every personality. ‘Your personality begins when you stop comparing’ is his moral, and therefore there had to be variation to do justice to all those colorful characters of ours.

The Otentic perfumes are produced in the village of Cabris, in the arrondissement of Grasse. It is a special region with an ancient perfume industry. The surroundings are beautiful and pure, the past almost tangible. Rose, jasmine, mimosa – but also other plants that donate their delightful aromas to the Otentic perfumes grow wild here, as an inspiring suggestion.

73 perfumes

In four years, Jean-Denis created 73 perfumes, which can be categorized into 8 fragrance styles. You can recognize the Aguamondo scents by their fresh, aquatic character that is perfect for wearing all day. Sensuali is characterized by spicy ingredients and is very warm and suitable for long evenings. I fell in love with the Pure line, which includes different scents with just one ingredient. So completely Rose, or Lavender and my ultimate favorite: Lily of the Valley, as if I was immediately in Italy.

Under each fragrance group, you will find different scents that have a different composition so you can find exactly the scent that best represents who you are.

My advice is to visit the Otentic store in Amstelveen or in Ghent (make it a day out) and to smell, spray, and try a lot there. I am sure you will walk out of the boutique very happy.
