I just got a panicked call from a colleague. ‘LOOK. I think I know who is in the final of Expedition Robinson. It just accidentally aired!!!’ Huh, what? She explains.

‘RTL4 is on, suddenly there’s a commercial break for Robinson with ‘finale’ written large and Nicolette is addressing participants Hugo, Shary-An, and Eva Cleven. They are standing together with their arms crossed and are getting an explanation about the final test. Look, this is a mistake! They started the wrong commercial. This is the teaser for the final!!!’ Eeehhhhh. Omg. I check Twitter and yes, multiple people have seen it, we are not the only ones.

Somewhere my diehard fan feeling doesn’t want to share this at all, but now that the news is spreading like wildfire through the Netherlands, my journalist heart cannot stay behind. Aiii, RTL, this is a heavy one. I’m still sitting in front of the TV tonight, don’t get me wrong, but this could have been handled a bit more carefully… Oops.

Update: how could this go wrong? ‘As a result of human error, the promo was aired a day early in which the finalists of Expedition Robinson are already visible,’ says a spokesperson for RTL. ‘We obviously find it very unfortunate for the loyal fans that the outcome of the semi-final is already known because of this.
