If you are the only one watching a series

My Monday takes place in The North, or Westeros or beyond the wall with sometimes a trip to King’s Landing. If you're wondering where that is: welcome to the quite bizarre world of Game of Thrones, where I am in good company with Jon Snow. Michiel Huisman was there too, but he’s gone missing again. Alone, I am very much alone there, because no one in the editorial team watches it.

I have to do my best to keep up with The Handmaid’s Tale (one evening not watching means three episodes behind), but I feel so alone in my GoT (that’s how you shorten it) escapades. Only Kiki is making a lame attempt to catch up with me, she is at season 1 and I am at episode 5 of season 8, but that’s about it. I’m still buzzing on Tuesday from what I saw on Monday night, but no one understands me. You start doing weird things.

1. You search for memes to put on your Insta Stories hoping that your fellow viewers will react and you’ll feel less alone.

2. I go to the gym, because there are indeed people there who watch it and then we discuss between triceps and biceps who got killed off this time and how we think it will end.

3. I send articles about Game of Thrones to my friend. Seriously. Today it was a mistake by the creators, because Jaime Lannister's hand was accidentally in the shot and he’s supposed to have no hand in the series. Now you know that too.

4. You start looking for appropriate gifs for your memes. And when you see how many GoT gifs there are, you start to wonder if everyone is just pretending they’re not watching.

5. Lot and Annick still support me a bit and then ask how I found the last episode. I appreciate it, but it’s just not quite the same. You get a bit of the you-should-have-been-there feeling.

6. Meanwhile, I try to convince people that they should watch it too, but they are at episode 1 and I... Well, you get it.

7. I’m already a bit sad about next week, because then it’s the very, very last episode and I’m kind of looking forward to it alone, yes.

P.S.: For memes and gifs about Game of Thrones: you need to check my Insta.
