It is proven: a nap a day makes you more productive

May, we need to talk. I would like to make a case, a case for naps and a nap corner in the editorial office. That if you have a little petit peu wrap-up around two or three or four (just a little one) you lay your head to rest to be unstoppable again afterwards. Sounds like music, right? It is, because research shows that a nap a day is good for you.
If you walk into an average office space, you might just come across a foldable bed made of ash wood (so so). Or a capsule that blocks ambient noise. Or pods where you can recharge yourself for a bit. Or a (no joke) Lay Flat Office Chair, now that sounds like a chair right up my alley. Basically everything to meet the napping needs of you and your colleagues. Until yesterday, I was taking a stroll, but you understand that those times are over. Tomorrow afternoon, I will take a nap.
Why do we take a nap in the afternoon? Because it works. There are plenty of studies that prove that employees are significantly fitter for up to two hours after a power nap. A nap between three and four and you’ll be blazing through the evening hours, I think. Just a small disclaimer, because that power nap must meet a list of requirements to work. You may max (but really max) be under the covers for 15 minutes, because once you sink too deep, there’s no honor left to be gained for the rest of the afternoon. If your nap is too long, you also run the risk of not being able to close your eyes at night, and you and your employer will face the consequences the next morning. You understand well: taking a good nap is no easy task.
Now it seems to me also a bit uncomfortable, because what if you accidentally have a little string in the corner of your mouth (which of course none of us have ever experienced) or you drift off to sleep with an unsoft sound (we are also not – I repeat: not – guilty of this). You never know who might suddenly witness this and whether you’ll hear about it at the drinks. Maybe we should think about the single-person nap cabin, I see business here.
