“It was thirteen years ago, but I still remember exactly what Marly was wearing. Rain boots. So cool. We both auditioned for Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden. They were looking for a new family and a girl to play the role of Nina. We clicked immediately and when I was cast as Florien Fischer, I texted Marly right away. It turned out she was the new Nina.”
Marly
“We were both the two young guppies on the set of the most-watched TV series in the Netherlands. That’s where we found each other, among other things. Also in our love for clothing. Shopping together, dressing up for our first premiere, getting recognized, becoming famous. We could share all those steps together. For a moment, I was afraid everything would change when Carolien went to drama school. In Maastricht, no less. I stayed with Goede Tijden, but we, we stayed too.”
Carolien
“Pack that twice.” We said that so often when we shopped together at our favorite little store in Maastricht. We really enjoy looking the same or almost the same with a small difference. I was just a few months further along in my pregnancy, so the maternity clothes that I no longer fit into, I passed on to Marly. And now we also talk a lot about nice clothes for the little ones, haha.”
Marly
“When I was pregnant, I quickly knew that I wanted to ask Carolien to be the godmother for our daughter. That moment, it ended up being quite awkward. We celebrated Halloween at her parents” house as we had done for years, and there in the hallway, just before we were about to go outside, I asked the question. That was quite a moment. Carolien takes her role very seriously and took care of Sammy-Rose one day a week during the first period.”
Carolien
“Last year we were both pregnant and we went on vacation together for a week, with Sammy-Rose included. Aside from Jon, I couldn’t have done this so nicely with anyone else. Going to bed early, reading books, playing games, and not saying anything the whole evening without it becoming awkward. And yes, peeing with the door open, that too. Definitely.”
