A few more days in L.A. and then home

CFLL

Time has truly flown by and it feels like we are only halfway through, but unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth… Just a few more days and we’ll be back on the plane to the Netherlands. Jons mission has been accomplished: he has completed a beautiful new script and Otis and I can now call ourselves LA locals: there hasn’t been a neighborhood we haven’t explored. After such a month, you do find your favorite spots which I will of course share with you:

Black Canvas Coffee: I find the best places are the ones you discover by chance. We were on our way to a breakfast spot where we had eaten before, but then it turned out the kitchen was closed. With an extreme hunger pang, we wandered around hoping to find something else nearby and then, like a divine moment, we saw Black Canvas Coffee. They have delicious coffee, an incredibly good pastry selection, and kind of little artworks for breakfast. We’ve already been back three times.

Runyon Canyon: what I will really miss are the beautiful LA parks that are in the hills. The view is stunning and you immediately get a good workout. Otis and I are huge fans of Runyon Canyon, where that little one can enjoy all the dogs walking with their owners and where I get a good leg workout with all the slopes.

Westfield Century City: Americans are known for their shopping malls and they are incomparable to our Bijenkorf. Gigantic stores, restaurants, and terraces where people also come to read a book in the sun or hold a meeting. Westfield Century City is my favorite with a beautiful outdoor promenade. Besides the big brands, there are also nice little boutiques.

There are also plenty of beautiful rooftop spots here. For every moment of the day, there is a perfect rooftop location to be found. You absolutely must reserve lunch or dinner on the roof of the Waldorf Astoria LA (delicious menu and a stunning 360-degree view) and for cocktails, you can go to rooftop E.P. & L.P. If you want to lie by the pool during the day, a visit is definitely worth it.
