Just about the costume party in England

WimLex was dressed in a (fairly) somewhat ridiculous outfit, Máxima was laughing hard on the sidelines and royal Europe fell in line: what on earth was going on in England yesterday? Well, our king was inducted into the Order of the Garter, so let's go through what that actually is.
Mother Bea actually joined the Order in 1990. It is the highest honor you can receive at the British court. In the UK, it all sounds much nicer, because there King Willem-Alexander joined the Most Noble Order of the Garter as a Supernumerary Knight of the Garter. I mean: that's certainly nicer than a garter. Besides our king, Felipe, the reigning monarch of Spain, was also installed. It all happened in Windsor in the presence of the twenty-four British Ladies and Knights who received the exceptional honor from Queen Elizabeth to join.
In the House of Orange, it is a tradition, as Prince Maurits was the first of the family in the year 1612 and all monarchs have since been members of the order. But what is it? The Order of the Garter was exclusive to the heroes of Great Britain and was established by Edward III in 1348. The story goes that the Countess of Salisbury lost her garter at a ball and he had quite the crush on her. The best king Edward picked it up, tied the garter around his left leg and exclaimed the words: ‘Honi soit qui mal y pense’. That means: shame on those who think ill of it. Thus, he saved her honor. This is also written on the garter that WimLex received yesterday. There is no fooling around under skirts when a woman joins the Order; the ladies wear the garter around their left upper arm. And we have another nice costume party to watch. By the way, have you seen Máxima, Kate, and Letizia? In my humble opinion, they looked just a bit more stunning than Willem-Alexander and Queen Elizabeth in their blue cape and hat with white ostrich feathers.
