Madonna calls Michael Jackson ‘innocent for now’

Oh, Madonna. You are known for having a ready tongue (and okay, honestly, also for being a bit of a weirdo), but now you are getting involved in sensitive issues that I would stay out of if I were you. What happened? The Queen of Pop is standing up for The King of Pop.

Somewhere, of course, it's a nice gesture, were it not for the alleged child abuse by one of the biggest pop stars ever being a serious matter that is now hard to deny. Madonna had been quiet about her childhood friend for a while, but she speaks out in an interview with British Vogue for the first time about the issue. According to the 60-year-old, Michael is innocent until proven otherwise. The thing is: Madonna hasn't seen the documentary herself, but she does speak out against the ‘lynch mob’ that Leaving Neverland she claims it has caused. ‘I've had a thousand accusations thrown at me that aren't true. So when people give such damaging information about other people, I always say: ‘Can you prove it?’

Well, dear Madonna, that's just a bit of the whole thing. For decades, there have been attempts to bring hard evidence to the table. But it's not that easy. Families have been brainwashed, staff have been bribed. Everyone has a price, and fame is the poison that has fueled all of this. Denying until death seemed to be the credo, something MJ literally did. And then there were Wade Robson and James Safechuck and their families. They remained silent for years out of fear and shame.
