Mays packing tips: Here you really have something to work with

Okay. Pressure. Because with a headline like this above the article, I really have to come up with something, and for higher mathematics, I refer you to another counter. But hey, I do travel a lot and have three kids, so I'm quite a pro at packing. Here we go. And if you don't find my tips useful, then feel free to click away. To Lil Kleine or something.

1. Put your suitcase in your room

And do this at least a week in advance. This way, you are constantly reminded that you are really going soon, and packing is more top of mind. Moreover, it increases the anticipation. Because my suitcase when my suitcase was in my room, I thought this morning while packing my daily lenses: do I have enough lenses for three (three, THREE) weeks of vacation?

2. Collect samples

Of course, you can buy empty bottles at Hema to put your creams and shampoo in, but then I don't remember which is the shampoo and which is the conditioner, etc. And it's also a bit of a hassle. Much better is to collect samples. When you're at Douglas or Ici Paris, ask for a sample. And you can definitely ask for your favorite brand and your own perfume; they really won't put you on trial for that. Much easier, and who knows, it might also be a fun way to try something new.

3. Get into the vibe of the country you're going to

Watch movies set in the place you're going to and listen to music from that region. This way, you immerse yourself in the right atmosphere. It will inspire you to pull out those things from your closet that match your vacation. Scandinavia calls for a different vibe than Southern Italy.

4. Start gathering

So when my suitcase is in my bedroom a week in advance, I start gathering a bit. Dresses for my daughters that they won't wear anymore in the coming week are laid out, just like the swimsuits. How many times on the first day of vacation have I not searched for a swimsuit because I had forgotten them again... I hang everything out a bit so I can see every day what I already have, what I'm still missing, what I might need to have dry cleaned, and what I might still need to buy.

5. Don't pack it yet

Don't make the mistake of putting everything in your suitcase already. First of all, everything gets wrinkled, and secondly, you lose track.

6. Hooray for the vacuum bag

My daughter always wants to take her enormous, fluffy onesie, but then the whole suitcase is immediately filled. Buy a vacuum storage bag (for example, at Bol.com), and the problem is solved.
