Must visit: Finland

Once a month, I drop the words Scandinavia, northern lights, and road trip within a time frame of five minutes, hoping that my partner suddenly bursts with inspiration and books a trip to Finland for me. Unfortunately for me, it has so far only resulted in me gazing at the photos, but I believe in the power of repetition. Otherwise, I’ll just go alone.
Finland seems incredibly beautiful to me, I must-will-want to see the northern lights live once in winter, preferably from a log cabin or a glass igloo. In Finnish Lapland, the Aurora Borealis can be admired for 200 nights a year. I want to go dog sledding, ice fishing, spot reindeer and bears, walk kilometers through Helsinki, eat in Porvoo, travel between countless lakes, stop by Santa Claus's office, count a trillion stars (which you can see because there is hardly any light pollution), and know what minus twenty feels like. And I want to experience the country where the sun never sets in summer. Reading this, I should pack my bags and move to Finland for a year, yes. But for now, I’m focusing on becoming a Finland recidivist. See for yourself why, I’ll see you there.
