Nostalgia to the max: High School Musical

In the category ‘you'd almost forget but you really don't want to’, because these were the most badass movies from your childhood: High School Musical. God, how I wanted a Troy in my life. And okay, I have to admit: maybe I just cried from laughing while analyzing the music videos. Here’s why.

Sharpay – Humuhumunukunukuapua’a

How many takes would it have cost to get this scene right? I would have totally been laughing my ass off on that whole stage. ‘RYAN, WHERE’S MY OCEAN?!’ If you ever want to chase a guy to another continent: here’s how to do it. And Ryan as a background dancer is definitely my spirit animal.

Troy – Bet on it

What the underlying thought behind this melodramatic song was still remains a mystery to me. The arm movements, the golf course, the little hop, the water, the ‘suddenly’ seeming to walk on the tundra/savanna, it’s just all quite a lot.

So I secretly wonder a lot what Zac Efron thinks about this in hindsight if he were to look back at it now. Or as wonderfully described in the YouTube comments: ‘Damn, and they say Sharpay was overdramatic.’ HAHA.

Sharpay – Fabulous

‘Fetch me my Jimmy Choo flip flops, where is my pink Prada tote? I need my Tiffany hair band… And then I can go for a flooohoohoooat.’ Sharpay is so goals, it’s not normal. Honestly: at fourteen you might have been full on team Gabriella, and now we all realize the one true queen was actually Sharpay.

Troy & Gabriella – Gotta go my own way

Oh my god: first of all, Gabriella's three-quarter leggings. This does not exist. Besides: how dramatic can it be when you're in fucking high school and singing things like: ‘I’ve gotta go my own way?’ ‘What about trust?’ Seriously? People, don’t be so dramatic and he didn’t even do anything in that whole movie. The peak is the bridge scene where he comes running: WHAT ABOUT UUUUS, WHAT ABOUT EVERYTHING WE BEEN THROUGH? Give me a break.

Troy & Sharpay – You Are The Music In Me

‘Look Sharpay, I know I promised that I do this, but take it easy on me, I’m kind of new in the whole performing thing.’ 5,6,7,8, NANANANA, NANANANANANA YOU ARE THE MUSIC IN ME HAHAHA. Extra bonus points for the blue glitter top, and the pink – what is it actually? – feather tail on the denim skirt.

Ryan & Sharpay – Bop to the top

Actually, it was all just incredibly unbelievable because everyone in the real world would know that Ryan and Sharpay would totally win against Troy and Gabriella with this song. Mucho gusto. Aye que fabulosa!
