Oh oh Madonna indeed...

‘Prop that eye patch in her mouth!’ ‘Is this the funeral of Madonna’s career?’ ‘If you get 1 million and show this, then you really don’t deserve to be on this stage.’ Well, let’s be honest: the reviews of Madonna’s performance on Saturday were not mild.

Now I must also honestly admit that I was sitting behind the TV a bit with clenched cheeks – mainly wondering how the businessman who reportedly paid the million must have felt. Oh, maybe it was the nerves or maybe her voice isn’t quite what it used to be, but I can imagine that it felt like quite a cat in a bag for the organization.

On the other hand, I also think: what do you expect? The woman has become an icon for very different reasons. Try standing there yourself. But that’s not the issue at all. The whole thing is now made even a bit more embarrassing by the Queen of Pop herself. Apparently, Madonna herself was also not entirely satisfied, because on her own YouTube channel, her singing part has been made a lot prettier than the original. Also on Insta, the performance can be heard distorted, with off-key notes...

Now I understand that in panic you might think: oh gosh, what should I do now? But my advice in this case would have been: definitely not this. Look, let’s not pretend to be holier than thou, I have also made an unflattering upper arm a bit thinner in a photo or edited out a pimple. But would I have done that if two hundred million people had already seen the original? Nah, I would have left that alone, I think.
