Proven: at this age you become boring

Okay, you may have been a bit less adventurous lately or going to bed a bit earlier, but does that make you boring right away? The answer is your age. Thorough research from Airbnb Experiences has found the exact age at which you can expect your ’boring’ life turning point.

Less partying and more drinking tea on the couch is what studies have established for women at an average age of 35. For men, this is (very surprisingly, NOT) four years later, at age 39. What is one of the main reasons? Settling down. 15 percent of thirty-somethings admitted to becoming boring after meeting their partner, and 20 percent reported that their adventurousness has significantly declined after having children. Well, and what exactly do we mean by adventurousness? It’s not swimming with sharks à la Freek Vonk, but staying up until the early hours on a weekday, trying out a new hobby and making new friends, but also changing jobs or trying a new sport. Mmm, does indeed sound quite boring. Shall we put a stop to that, right?

Oh, and if you’re almost halfway through your thirties (I won't name names), then once you hit 35 or 39 in the future, it will be a bright spot again. The same research has also shown that people over 50 become a bit more adventurous again. Just wait a few more decades and in the meantime, enjoy sipping lots of tea and occasionally putting on your adventurous shoes and trying that new sport, you badass, HA.
