Say what: the sneaker-kitten heel is a thing
At first I thought it was a joke, but now, a few days later, this shoe situation is starting to get a bit more serious. Earlier this year it was about the asymmetrical jeans or denim shorts, but this time it's the sneaker-kitten heel that we suddenly have all sorts of opinions about. And that's not just for nothing…
It's the London designer Ancuta Sarca, who is taking over Instagram with her recycled Nike creations, which has everything to do with the message behind her collection. Sarca tells in an interview with Hypebae that the aspect of sustainability in her designs is of great importance: ‘In our time, where fashion is unfortunately one of the most polluting industries, one of the most conscious things I can do as a designer is to use existing materials to not keep producing more.’ No wonder the fashion crowd is excited (and let's not forget the comfort of a sneaker and the style of heels). Anyway, the sneaker-kitten heel… I actually have just one question left: is it hot or totally not?, wat alles te maken heeft met de boodschap achter haar collectie. Zo vertelt Sarca in een interview met Hypebae dat het onderdeel van duurzaamheid in haar ontwerpen van groot belang is: ‘In onze tijd, waarin mode helaas een van de meest vervuilde industrieën is, is een van de meest bewuste dingen die ik als ontwerper kan doen het gebruik maken van bestaand materiaal om niet steeds meer te produceren.’ Geen wonder dat het modevolk enthousiast is (en laten we vooral ook het comfort van een sneaker en de stijl van de heels niet vergeten). Anyway, de sneaker-kitten heel… Er rest mij eigenlijk nog maar één vraag: is-ie nou hot of hartstikke not?
