See, see, see: the first images of Stranger Things season 3

The countdown has really begun now, because on July 4, Stranger Things returns to Netflix. And that’s actually not that long anymore. At least, that’s what I tell myself. In the meantime, I’m just busy sifting through all the spoilers I can find, which I then forward to my fellow Stranger Thing’ers. So you understand: that television night is already blocked by my group of friends, the fourth of July. The trailer they showed us a while ago, but last night a sneak peek was also released and you guessed it: you want to see it. You guessed it as well: I’ve already seen it for you, about 15 times, and have analyzed it from front to back for you. You’re welcome. It’s called ‘Summer in Hawkins‘, and in the first images, it’s looking quite hot and steamy. If you’re afraid that Stranger Things has left the delightful nostalgic feeling behind: oh no, not at all. The hairstyles and swimsuits are totally 80‘s, and those sunglasses… Love it. Call me a disgrace to fashion, but I would rock that style without shame.
But what can we actually see in the new images? If you remember from last season: there was quite a bit of flirting between Billy Hargrove and Karen Wheeler, Mike’s mother. That Billy is working as a lifeguard in this sneak peek (which no woman complains about, of course) and Karen is eagerly waiting for the female lifeguard’s shift to end… Enter Billy. Correction: enter Billy in tiny shorts. And with aviator sunglasses. I love it. He also has to show his authority by scolding a small child (“No running!”). Just showing who’s boss, of course. He also subtly gives Mrs. Wheeler a compliment about her swimsuit. Yes, I’m telling you: this is going to be the new romance of the season.
We can expect that the whole ‘coming of age’ will be a major theme in season 3. That’s also what the current A-lister Millie Bobby Brown said about her character Eleven. “Eleven’s character evolves greatly. And I can say it’s spreading fast. And that’s all I can tell you.” Okay, hardly a spoiler to mention, but still. The tagline of this season also taps into that ‘change’: “One summer can change everything.”
So a lot is going to happen in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, that’s for sure. But oh man, I actually don’t want to wait until July 4. I’m probably not the only one with this problem. Let’s just hope we also get some nice weather when summer in Hawkins arrives, then we can already get a bit in the mood. And it’s almost the end of May, guys, so I also demand nice weather here. Summer in Holland, yes please.
