So you want round buttocks? Me too – and this is how we're going to fix it

If only we could eat that round butt. A few weeks ago, I told my trainer that I really wanted a rounder butt. You know, that thick peach, lots of grip. Not to be confused with the square Kim K. butt (sorry Kim, to each their own) I'm talking about the real real fitness butt.

So now the peach butt project is in full swing and I've downgraded the cardio to focus on the better precision work. Yep ladies. The only real method to get that famous round booty is to go to the gym more often. Or roll out that workout mat at home. These are the concepts you need to remember.

The hip thrust

Oh, I have a love-hate relationship with it. With the hip thrust, you directly target your butt and that sucker can burn quite a bit, especially when you start working with weights. You lie on your back, pull your legs in, and push your hips all the way up while squeezing your butt completely. Is the regular exercise too easy? Then try lying on a bench with your back and placing a weight/barbell on your hips.

The donkey

Yes, I just call it the donkey, but in the fitness scene, they also call this the glute kickback or the donkey kick. Sounds way too complicated. So, the donkey. Super simple. You sit on your hands and knees and make a ‘donkey-like kick‘ with your leg. Not only good for your butt, but also for your hamstrings.

The sumo squat
I just love those names. This is basically the sister of the regular squat, but in the sumo variant, you turn your feet completely outward, which trains a different part of your legs and butt. I only see the real fitness chicks doing hundreds of sumo squats with kettlebells in their hands, so it must be good, right?

Reverse lunges

Here it applies: the bigger the step back, the more the gluteus maximus is trained. This is a typical exercise where I initially thought, yeah but this doesn't work at all, but try doing five sets of twenty repetitions and then you'll notice: aii. This is going to burn. And burning in your butt and legs means: round butt in the making, hell yeah.
