The 7 styling tips we learned from the Chanel VIPs

The Grand Palais transformed into Villa Chanel for the spring/summer haute couture show. A villa in Monte Carlo surrounded by palm trees and a gigantic swimming pool, the most handsome models in tweed suits and bateau necklines inspired by Karl's favorite era (the 18th century) and VIP guests you would immediately want to marry in the name of fashion.
The VIPs then. They sat front row in the most beautiful combinations that many fashion enthusiasts would immediately fill their wishlist with. From Kristen Stewart, Sasha Luss, and Sofia Coppola to Pharrell Williams and Stella Tennant: they shine in gold, go for hats, and dazzle in pearls and sequins at their coolest. They inspired us and we learned:
1. Belt over your blazer
A belt over your blazer is what you need in life. Just look at Anne Berest and see what it does for your waist.
2. A turtleneck underneath
Diane Rouxel and Tilda Swinton go for a turtleneck under the suit. The solution during a snowstorm outside and your fashion moment inside, because it looks bizarrely stylish.
3. Gold on the feet
The metallic boots have been around for a while, but sorrynotsorry, silver is so 2018. In 2019 we are going for gold with Sasha Luss and Marine Vacth for the win.
4. Leave your bra at home
Chanel ambassador Kristen Stewart rocks the ‘fantasy’ tweed jacket from the Métiers d’Art Paris – New York 2018/19 collection so bizarrely cool that wearing a T-shirt, blouse, or bra under a blazer should be banned from now on.
5. Belly buttons and knits
Knits are preferably worn à la Alma Jodorowsky and Anna Brewster in crop format. Belly buttons may be seen, even in winter.
6. Over your shoulder
Whether they are made of tweed, metallic, or leather: jackets are draped over the shoulders at all times.
7. Earrings are big
The minimalist trend is nice for the time being, but for a serious statement, you prefer to wear earrings that reach your shoulders.
