The 7 things vegetarians never want to hear again

If you choose to skip meat or fish, you are very disrespectfully given the title
‘rabbit’ and the less nuanced person sees you in front of them with a shopping basket full of carrots and bags of lettuce. Our neighbor Tamye from online food magazine FavorFlav is done with it. She goes through the questions she never wants to hear again with you.
You must be one of those health freaks?
I wish. Even as a vegetarian, you can actually try too hard to prevent that six-pack. Shock and awe, but we (and don’t look at me like I’m from Mars) eat bags full of greasy fries or an extra creamy chocolate cake. We do that while binge-watching Netflix. Sitting. And not on a yoga mat or cross trainer. And… did you know that (most) pizzas are vegetarian?
Aren't you tired of always just eating vegetables?
Tired? From answering your questions, yes. From vegetables, no. And have you ever been to the supermarket? The world is much bigger than just fish and meat. The section with meat substitutes is even almost bigger than the meat and fish section. Try it yourself sometime. But be careful: there’s a chance you might actually like it.
Don't you miss meat?
When a new KFC burger comes out and the whole city is filled with billboards, my mouth waters too sometimes. Meat is for vegetarians maybe out of sight, but not (always) out of mind.
Eating out must be difficult.
Not really, much to the annoyance of my bank account. The menu is actually much more than just meat. And at these famous restaurants you can also enjoy great vegetable menus. But thanks for your concern.
Plants have feelings too.
But do plants have feelings too? And are you saying this while you’re eating your hamburger with iceberg lettuce next to me?
Can't you just take the meat off?
Sometimes yes. But à la Dr. Bibber taking the meat off a BBQ chicken pizza is a bit much for me. I prefer to leave my tweezers at home when I go out to eat. And I’m lucky that I just love pizza margherita.
You do eat fish, right?
Unless a rare fish species has been discovered that is one hundred percent plant-based: no. Pescatarians do eat fish. But in principle, vegetarians do not.
