The recipe for a super quick salad with tuna

Sometimes you have to learn to eat something, and in my case, that was a hefty piece of fresh tuna. Mixed with mayo was fine, but just grilled wasn't really to my taste. But suddenly I find it delicious and it comes out picobello, because I saw this tasty and quite quick recipe pass by from our neighbors at online food magazine FavorFlav. Just what you need on a Monday.

Smoked olive oil is, if made well – without weird additives and essence that is – an incredibly tasty flavor enhancer. The Smoked Arbequina from Valderrama is ‘cold smoked’ in a smokehouse on a mixture of hay, oak wood shavings, and various herbs. A method that has been used for hundreds of years in Finland also works perfectly with olive oil. Especially when used subtly. Less is more, because the flavor is strong. So be modest with it, then the aromas will come out most refined.

Ingredients

– 4 tuna fillets (about 170 grams each)

– Two bags of (curly or iceberg) lettuce

– Two ripe avocados

– Small (bunch) tomatoes

– Sesame seeds, black and white

– Sesame oil

– Smoked olive oil (Valderrama Smoked Arbequina)

– Lemon

– Pepper & salt

Here’s how to make it

1. Divide a generous amount of lettuce over four bowls.

2. Cut the tomatoes into small wedges and distribute them over the bowls.

3. Halve the avocados, pit them, and cut into cubes or slices. Divide half an avocado per bowl. Drizzle a little sesame oil over the salads and drizzle some fresh lemon juice on top.

4. Let a frying pan get hot and briefly fry some sesame seeds in it. Remove the seeds and add a splash of sesame oil to the pan.

5. Brush the tuna with a bit of sesame oil and sprinkle a little pepper and salt over it.

6. Then coat the tuna with the sesame seeds.

7. Is the oil hot? Then fry the tuna briefly on each side until the sesame seeds are light brown. Remove the tuna from the pan.

8. Cut into nice slices and distribute over the bowls. Drizzle modestly with the smoked olive oil.

9. As a finishing touch: some fried sesame seeds on top. Again tomorrow?
