What if a girl in the Holocaust had Instagram? That question is answered by the account of Eva. On Insta Stories, you see her life before the war, but also the terror, the fear, and the inhumanity of persecution. Eva came from Hungary and the Instagram adaptation is based on her diary. It is an initiative by Mati Kochava and his daughter Maya, to keep the memory of the Holocaust close. ‘In memory of the 6 million Jews murdered in the Holocaust,’ it says in the biography. The initiative, which is meant to touch young people, receives mixed reactions; some celebrate it, while others say they feel belittled as teenagers. I find it particularly impactful, in a time when we know everything about each other through social media. ‘My name is Eva, I’m surrounded by war, but I’m always seeing the sun,’ she says in her first highlight from February 13, but then the war also reaches her and her family.
