Why it is perfectly okay to still watch Grey's Anatomy now

greys anatomy

Or have I seen that one new series on Netflix or finally started with the editorial favorite? Uhm, no. I binge like crazy, but I am far from up to date. ‘I watch Grey's Anatomy,’ I say, attaching a few arguments to it. Yes guys, laugh at me: I still watch Grey's Anatomy. And yes, there are no less than 14 (with 15 on the way!) seasons, it's a series from 2005 and yes yes yes, McDreamy and McSteamy are definitely part of it. I am totally into Seattle Grace Hospital and Meredith Grey, in other words: Grey's Anatomy is totally the shit. And here's why:

1. Grey's Anatomy is the longest-running series ever

Read 14 seasons and over 300 (!) episodes. I mean: they are not there for nothing, guys...

2. The direction

The actors of Grey's regularly don the director's hat themselves. Among others, Ellen Pompeo (Meredith), Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey), Kevin McKidd (Owen), and Debbie Allen (Catherine Avery) have each directed multiple episodes.

3. Round of the case

The best drunk moments #lofffff.

4. Doctor Avery

Those oooooooeyes.

5. For the music lovers

Each episode is named after the title of a song, with R.E.M. and The Beatles as favorite artists.

6. Christina's brows

Or better said: Christina without eyebrows. The moment she marries Preston Burke, which soon means: according to family tradition, having her eyebrows completely plucked by her mother-in-law. The end result is laugh-out-loud funny.

7. Meredith is your girl

How many times Meredith Grey has escaped death is bizarre. Ludo Sanders from Goede tijden, slechte tijden is nothing compared. From a bomb explosion and drowning to a shooting and plane crash: our doctor Grey is immortal and that's exactly what you need in the friendship you build while binging with her.

8. McDreamy

Patrick Dempsey who was already called ‘McDreamy’ on set before this nickname was even used for his character Derek Shepherd in the series.

9. They really operate

When there is a close-up of an operation, it is performed by real surgeons who are specially hired for the operations. No acting involved, how cool is that?

10. And the organs are real too

The organs used are not homemade props, but real organs from cows. In brain surgeries, the brain of a lamb is used. Sarah Drew, who plays April Kepner, says that the organs smell really bad, causing the cast to work really hard not to gag during filming. Ieuhwlllll.

11. For the love of Izzie

The love story between Izzie and Denny Duquette is the sweetest. Something about stealing a heart and getting married in the hospital; it doesn't get more romantic than that.

12. Big names

The names written in each episode on the famous operation board are real names of Grey's Anatomy crew members.

13. The real deal

You would think that patients with the most bizarre injuries or conditions are mainly there for excitement and sensation in the series and are therefore a bit made up. Well, not at all, because almost all medical stories are based on true events. The writers draw their inspiration mainly from medical journals and fans who send in story tips.

14. The hospital

Maybe I've become a tiny bit less afraid of the hospital, needles, and blood. Emphasis on a very tiny bit.
