Why you become a boss when you wake up early

A girl lying in a white bed and waking up

A super fit woman sprinted along the Vecht, two cyclists pedaled stubbornly against the wind while branches flew around their ears, a father walked with his children around the block. And all of this happened on Saturday morning at nine o'clock. I blinked for a moment, wiped the sleep from my eye, and felt a bit jealous because they looked like they had been awake for hours and thus had extra weekend time. I was also outside because I had the plan to work for a few hours in a coffee shop. But normally, I vegetate on the couch at this hour and binge my latest episode of La Casa. So I really need to stop that quickly because it turns out to be unhealthy behavior. Waking up early is the motto for a long, happy, and successful life.

1. You are awake before you go to work

Now you would think that you are definitely awake when you get in the car, on the bike, or on the train, but actually, you are a life-threatening sleepwalker. That haze just after waking up is called sleep inertia and lasts about two to four hours. So it could very well be that you are still sleeping at the office, and if you wake up early, you arrive at the office much more energized.

2. You are a cheerful person

And you will remain one because if you sleep well, those grumpy attacks will pass you by. No more shouting in the car, but a big smile when the neighbor in the car next to you unleashes a tirade at you.

3. You are ready for success

If you wake up early, your grades are higher, which helps you succeed in your studies and get a good job. You are also proactive, and that is really important for the chance of success because being proactive immediately gives you the risk of a successful life.

4. You are not ready for depression

And for us women, the chance of depression when waking up late is even greater than for men. Wake up early as a woman, and you have a lower chance of psychological discomfort. Your body rests well with a good night's sleep, and if you have a nice rhythm (which early birds tend to have), those stimuli have less hold on you.

5. You sleep better

Early birds sleep better. Your rhythm is right, sleep problems have less hold on you (not sleeping is the new smoking) and it is one big pleasure of sleep, waking up fit, and sleeping again without problems. Good night.

Well, I don't know what you do, but my alarm clock is going off an hour earlier tomorrow morning.
