Why your team should be Anouk Smulders

That she smoothly drives in her car from Amsterdam to Germany and anywhere else does not mean that Anouk has taken the exit to a road where only healthy and happy people move back and forth.
That road doesn't actually exist. Because sometimes you zoom in fifth gear and before you know it, you're caught in a pile-up and need an airbag. And that airbag, Anouk would love to be.
Last week she launched her platform Grace and Us. What does she hope to do? Inspire, comfort, help women, or just laugh hard together, because if Anouk is good at anything, it's in the seizing the day.
Last week Anouk threw a party to introduce Grace and Us to the world and she shared many stories, one of which really tugged at my heart. It's the story of Ingrid. Anouk once posted a photo on Instagram with the caption that the day wasn't hers. A job fell through, it rained, flat tire, that kind of thing. In a tracksuit on the couch, she posted the text: ‘I'm having a sh*t day, that should be said sometimes.’ This comment fell into the category of First World Problems for Ingrid and she responded firmly: ‘You know what's really sh*t? When your son has bone cancer.’ I think almost everyone would have gotten angry at this response.
Not Anouk. It touched her and she wrote Ingrid a message. That she was sorry and if she could do anything. ‘Well,’ said Ingrid, ‘my son turns 16 next week and I would love it if he was buried under gifts and congratulations.’ That call went out on Instagram and snowballed through Leontine Borsato's account around the world. Result: 1100 congratulations, countless cards and balloons. Ironically, Anouk heard at that exact moment that her sister had acute leukemia and then her real sh*t day also became a fact. She found comfort in Ingrid and a friendship was born.
So if you want to know what Grace and Us is about, I think you have the essence here. Take a look at her site and read the beautiful stories of women.
And Anouk, I always say that you have it in you to become queen of this country. That role has been given to someone else, but the Queen of Hearts, that's you.
