About Harry and William who no longer talk to each other

Of course, not a minute goes by without ‘something’ about Harry-Meghan-William appearing in the news. Latest news I got a push notification about: Harry and William are said to hardly talk to each other anymore. Bam.

Although I, everyone has their weaknesses, can't get enough of anything British royal-related, I shrugged this off. How many people do I know who, fortunately usually only temporarily, take some distance from brothers or sisters as soon as a new love enters their life. Everyone has to get used to the new situation, you have to detach from the family you come from and build a new foundation. The new partner doesn't know all your codes and where the person in love has already spent a hundred hours cuddling and drinking wine dissecting and meeting the other, the family has to make do with an occasional dinner on the left and a birthday party on the right.

In the case of Meghan Markle, an American actress, dating a British prince, I can imagine it’s even a bit more difficult to get on the same page. The British royal family is bound by protocols, Meghan is a woman who as a girl already didn’t let herself be limited, and then you enter a maze of rules. So I understand that Harry stands up for ‘his girl’ (as my Amsterdam grandfather would say) and that for William it all slips away very quickly from what they had together and he feels like he’s losing his brother.

When I look around, I often see such a distancing occurring with new loves. Usually, love bends and adjusts, and if that is what’s best for the family member in question, the family will eventually bend and show understanding.

Ultimately, Harry and William have always been different boys (I know both of them very well, you understand. Read this ironically; I base my opinion on push notifications too) and this path suits Harry quite well. I think the boy would be utterly unhappy with a type like Kate Middleton. So that brotherhood, that will come around. I hope so at least.
