Coco's Couture

Chanel show paris fashion week haute couture 2020

It was a tumultuous fashion week. First, Jean Paul Gaultier announced his departure from the world of couture (we thank him for how he gave breasts a leading role with the bustier, his reinterpretation of the marinière stripe, his perfumes, and personally for the last show of Hermès where he was designer for years and which was so beautiful that I can still cry about it), but it was also the week in which Chanel honored another chapter in the life of Gabrielle Chanel. During the couture show, a cloister garden was built in the home stadium Grand Palais because that was where little Gabrielle was delivered by her father when her mother passed away. The monastery and its inhabitants have left a huge mark on Chanel's collections. Then and now. Just look at how Virginie Viard gave her 2020 interpretation of it.
