Coffee brewing talks; a selection from the news

It is Friday, October 23, the sun rose particularly beautifully this morning and out of the wind and in the sun it is still very pleasant. Unfortunately, there are no terraces yet, there is even speculation about a stricter lockdown so that we can sit together at the table for Christmas. Further in the news: Trump's password has been hacked, the hashtag we hoped we wouldn't need and the photo that tells the best story this week.
Just take my hand
The hashtag you hoped we wouldn't need. On Instagram, photos of well-known and lesser-known Dutch people appear with the captions #pakmijnhand and #MakeHollandGreatAgain. Seventy (!) percent of LGBTQIA+ individuals are insulted on the street for not being heterosexual. Newsreader Annemarie Rozing from Q Music experienced this two weeks ago as well. This morning she explained in the morning show how intense it is to be harassed for who you are. The hashtag was created to call for an end to this violence. Renze Klamer, Jurre Geluk, Willeke Alberti, Inge de Bruijn, Karin Bloemen, Kees van der Spek, and Anita Witzier shared a photo this week with the hashtags to draw attention to this injustice.
Trump hacked on Twitter
A Dutch ethical hacker managed to breach the Twitter account of the American president last week. I immediately wonder what those guys at the Secret Service are doing all day, apparently not tweeting. Trump turned out to have secured his Twitter account with ‘maga2020!’, or: make America great again. It's very easy to figure out what someone's password is, because you mainly look at a person's preferences and combine this with years and an exclamation mark, tech journalist Daniël Verlaan tells Jinek. And suddenly everyone is nervously changing passwords.
WhatsApp lets you mute things forever
This week I suddenly received notifications from WhatsApp groups that I shouldn't be getting notifications from at all. What was going on? The muted year had expired. Of course, you already have the function to mute the messaging app completely, but I find that a bit too definitive. WhatsApp is therefore coming just in time with a new feature. After the update, you can mute a group forever. Hallelujah, forever and ever and ever and never accidentally receive a notification again.
The photo that says it all
What a week. The king and queen were brought back from Greece like a couple of naughty children, there was a Sunday with Lubach in which we saw Lange Frans from a very different side and everyone wanted to weigh in on the issues. The photo by Maurice van Berkel actually captures the essence the best.
