Delicious Norwegian horror series comes out on Friday the thirteenth
Scandinavian series, I love them. No matter how skeptical I am about Dutch films (in series we have proven ourselves quite well in recent years), I am very positive as soon as I hear that something is Scandinavian. In terms of series, they always do extremely well (and in terms of books too, if you want to read something). Since The Bridge I was sold and I have a dark brown suspicion that I am still sold on this series. Because I love horror. The grosser, the better. The more severed limbs, the more lyrical I am about the series. Praise. It.
If you are a real horror fan, you probably already know the series Black Lake, which is on Netflix and is also Scandinavian. Don't expect the same. Both are bloody, but this new series – by the way, it's going to be called Bloodride – is horror series meets comedy. And yes, a daring combo but it could turn out quite well. Zombieland for example, or Happy Death Day (the latter is from the category ‘so bad it's good’). I don't think it will be rolling on the floor laughing, but you never know. Often horror comedies are extremely violent and bloody, which is a plus for this enthusiast.
The first season gets six episodes, in which a bus driver is central. Each episode seems to take place in a completely different world, so in that sense it is a kind of anthology series, but with one common thread and that is that bus driver. Something tells me that it is not exactly a driver you would like to have sitting in your bus. Each episode brings this driver a group to a different destination and those destinations are grim. Sounds quite entertaining. Want to make a bet on how many limbs will be flying around?
Not entirely surprisingly, Bloodride comes out on Friday the thirteenth. March 13, that is. So yes, that's less than a week away. FUN. Hey, and if you want to watch something else in the same genre during that week, check out Maniac on Netflix. The American version is on there (with Jonah Hill and Emma Stone) and the Norwegian version, which is directed by Kjetil Indregard, who is also the director of Bloodride.
