Hey dude, vinegar whiners, why are we hating on that corona song?

I really understand that we are bored, but can we all just behave a little normally? What is it with that Dutch mentality that we are so quick to mow the grass at little sprouts that are in full bloom? Long story short: something is going on with the corona song. Or well, actually the song is called ‘Zon’, but it feels better to complain if we can talk about a corona song.
A hundred celebrities contributed to it (including Jeroen van der Boom, Gordon, Trijntje, Edsilia, Yolanthe, Brainpower, Ellie Lust, and Kenny B) and even before it was presented for the first time at Jinek last night, the angry reactions were already in. Angry Twitter users have expressed in recent days that celebrities could do something better during the corona crisis than singing a song that mainly draws attention to themselves.
Jeroen van der Boom states on Instagram that the intention of the song has been misunderstood by some. ‘I read a lot of arguments and dissatisfaction about the song ‘Zon’. What they call the ‘corona song’. Well, corona song, that has never reached us,’ said the singer. ‘I notice that it is being ridiculed by a few people and I find that a shame. Everyone is doing their best, everyone is trying to contribute. And if you are asked to do something for someone else: then you just do it. Not to give yourself a pat on the back but to sing a song to give people strength.’
Ellie Lust calls it ‘incredibly unfortunate’ in the Jinek broadcast that the song receives so much criticism. ‘Let's all be positive. That negativity beforehand.’ According to the former policewoman, everyone participated selflessly in the action and any proceeds will go to good causes. ‘If you react like that, it doesn't fit at all with the positive intentions,’ says Ellie. ‘Have another pickle and go to sleep nicely.’
El, I couldn't have said it better. Enjoying the pickle juice, those sour peeps. One more time listening then? Because I actually think it's beautiful.
