I don't understand anything about TikTok

Maybe this is finally something I'm too old for, although that's probably not the case because I think I just heard someone in their thirties say they were on it too. TikTok apparently is the future, something the whole world is doing in the long run. Like: what are you doing, darling? Oooh, just uploading a little TikTok, sweetheart. And me? I just don't know what I'm looking at anymore.
The explanation I got from an avid TikToker in my surroundings: a kind of sign language dance, actually what you do in the club, but then for yourself via a camera. This is where it all goes wrong for me, because when I see a video of myself dancing, the vicarious embarrassment takes over and I die a thousand deaths. So I'm actually doing everything I can to make sure this kind of footage of myself disappears. Forever. Maybe even blackmail comes into play here. That aside, because the videos on TikTok are dances that you normally do in the club but now for yourself on video? Unless you're a trained dancer, I find this extremely dangerous. I can only see that this can go very wrong, but apparently you can make a lot of money from it. Of course, I've been told that too, because I have no idea myself.
Addison Rae, Addison who? Apparently, this is one of the biggest TikTokers on earth. Just like Tony Lopez, never heard of him, who is good for 461.3 million TikTok likes, and the poor guy can't walk down the street without a horde of screaming fans following him. They seem to rake in thousands upon thousands of euros in just a few seconds. Because that's what it is, right, or am I missing some minutes of footage behind a sneaky click-through link? No, I didn't think so either.
Maybe that's the problem. I feel like I'm spending a few seconds trying to figure out what I'm actually looking at and... it's gone. TikTok is absolutely the medium for the person with a concentration span of, god I can't even name something that loses its concentration that quickly. I can handle this on a one-time basis, but the idea that I'm losing an hour of my day to something where I actually don't know what I'm looking at just goes too far for me. I can't deal with that.
And while I slip away into an older generation, I make an exception for just one TikTok, because even this elderly person can see the fun in the Coincidance. But this is how it starts, right?
