Fan of Élite? Then you want to know about this new series

Love 101 on Netflix

Yesss, bring on those high school drama series, I can't get enough of them. Spanish, English, any language — I'm fine with it all. And that's how I stumbled upon the trailer for Love 101, a new Netflix Original series coming out on April 23. It's a bit of an adjustment, because this series is Turkish. Of course, you can bypass that by setting the language to English, but I get so irritated by the dubbing. And with Élite, I was so used to the Spanish. So it will be just fine.

Why am I already comparing Love 101 to Élite? Well, just check the trailer. It's quite dark and also preppy, set in a private school. Love 101 seems a bit less grim, because so far there hasn't been a murder if I can believe the trailer. But that could always come, of course… The plot of the series actually sounds quite romcom-like, which I also expected.

The series is about a group of spoiled students who come up with a plan to make their teacher fall in love. I know, it sounds very romcom-like, but given the blue eyes, fainting people, and the amount of blood shown in the trailer, it doesn't seem to be that. Because it actually looks quite thrilling. It's like a series I want to binge-watch in one go.

So I think we absolutely need to give this one a chance. Especially if you've already finished series like Élite and think Gossip Girl is also great. Love 101 has eight episodes (the first season), so I think that's a good task for myself on a day like King's Day… which we can't celebrate now. But beforehand, I give this a binge-watch rating of 7.5.
