Locke and Key is the solution if you've finished Netflix

Last Friday, a new Netflix series was released: Locke and Key. I had seen a few ads for it, but whether I had any idea what it was about... Not really. Or rather, not at all. A bit awkward for Netflix, because with all those new series and the huge selection, it's quite handy to know what the plot is right away. Otherwise, it doesn't sound really appealing and you forget to watch it. Like Locke and Key. But by pure chance, I read a review that highly recommended it, which made me give it a chance and now I can recommend it to you.

So I’ll just start with the plot (which Netflix should have started with too). It is based on a comic book, in which three kids inherit an old house and find mysterious keys there. It sounds a bit comic book-like, but it genuinely flows well and is quite suspenseful too. Anyway, each key they find in the house does something different. There are (literally) floating keys that temporarily transform you into a ghost, but also keys that allow you to look into someone else's brain.

Of course, there is also a big enemy (which series doesn’t have that?) and that is a woman who is also searching for certain keys. Keys that the three kids don’t know what powers they have. All in all, a great series to watch, it has some plot twists here and there and fortunately solves quite a few ‘mysteries’ in this first season.

Locke and Key ends with a cliffhanger, so that second season could theoretically just come. Netflix is quite tough on canceling series (like Spinning Out and Soundtrack, for example), so don’t celebrate too early. But this one is a recommendation for when another Ciara comes knocking and you can’t (or don’t want to) leave the house.
