May's Bathroom Confessions

May's Bathroom ConfessionsI find being in the bathroom a treat. It adjoins our bedroom so from my bed, I have a delightful view of all my lovely beauty goodies. One of the perks of my job is that I get terribly spoiled and have the most beautiful bottles on my ’little shelf’.

What time do you get up?
In any case, no later than 6:30 AM, but if one of my girls gets it in her head earlier, it could just as well be 6:00 AM. I don't mind, I'm quite a morning person and, knowing this, I often go to bed early with Beau. Not with Beau, but during. You know what I mean?

What is the first thing you do when you get out of bed?
There are few things nicer than stretching when you wake up. After that, I press my little body against that of my beloved, sniff his neck, and tell him that I think he is the funniest and the most handsome. And yes, I also say that he can stay in bed. He makes JINEK and BEAU, so he usually gets home around midnight. I gladly take on that breakfast shift and bring him a cup of tea with milk exactly at 7:37 AM. Then the viewing figures come in and that is his alarm.

What do you do in the bathroom that no one knows?
With three children and twenty years of dating, I have little secrets. I plank and I do a wallsit while I'm brushing my teeth, for example. My Philips Sonicare DiamondClean hero brushes for exactly two minutes, so that's a perfect timer.

If this isn't in my bathroom, I panic...
My beloved is quite into bulk buying, so I often refer to the cabinet in our bedroom as our Etos branch. There are ten rows of deodorants and shower gels and tubes of toothpaste ready for use. But if something from Jetske Ultee Uncover runs out, I have a problem. Her skincare line is really the only one that keeps my skin calm. Of course, I also use other favorites from Chanel and Sisley, but Uncover must be there. Especially the serum that tackles imperfections.

Bath or shower?
The only thing that helps me get out of bed in the winter months is the thought of the warm shower waiting for me. I prefer to brush my teeth in the shower, but since two minutes of brushing is the standard, I've decided not to do that anymore in the shower. ‘Then Al Gore will get mad,’ my love and I say. Too much hot water usage is not good for the world, so nowadays I shower warm for three minutes, then a bit cold like Wim Hof, and then brush my teeth while doing an exercise. That way, I've got that out of the way too.

Manual or electric?
I brushed by hand for a long time until I heard how much better electric brushing is. I then switched to the Philips Sonicare DiamondClean. The sonic technology provides a clean and smooth feeling. A DiamondClean brushing session of two minutes is equivalent to a month of brushing twice a day for two minutes with a manual toothbrush. Isn't that bizarre? Moreover, I sometimes rush it manually. With the DiamondClean, I only stop when the toothbrush stops, and I know for sure that I've completed the two minutes properly. It also has five brushing modes, so I can set it according to my needs. I also find it a piece of jewelry for the bathroom and very easy with the kids, so I'm hooked for life. to this toothbrush.
